It appears a decision is coming as it pertains to FTR's full-time status in AEW. The team does not have a contract with the promotion after showing up just over a month ago, but that could all change on Wednesday's Dynamite.
The public conversation about FTR's contract today stemmed from a back-and-forth with AEW President Tony Khan. AEW released their tag team rankings and FTR (formerly The Revival) were nowhere on it. Unhappy about that news, the team tweeted AEW and essentially called the rankings a joke.
It was Khan who responded, and in doing so, revealed the actual contract status of the duo.
You can see in Cash Wheeler's tweet below an image of the tag rankings. Dark Order, Best Friends, Young Bucks, Jurassic Express and Private Party took the top-five spots behind the current champions, Kenny Omega and Adam "Hangman" Page. Wheeler posted, "Hello? Anyone there?"
It was Khan who wrote back and said, "As I’ve told your attorney, you each need to sign your contracts before we can rank you in the top 5."
The contract status of the team wasn't publicly discussed on AEW television and while FTR had said they were keeping their options open, this was really the first time anyone behind the scenes in the promotion alluded to the fact that the team was not under contract. Essentially, they could have gone back to WWE, hopped over to Impact Wrestling or signed elsewhere, had they so chosen to.
Dax Hardwood responded to Khan's tweet and said, "Mr. Khan dropping personal information on Twitter. We'll make our decision today."
FTR Officially Signs Contracts On Dynamite
This exchange hinted at AEW running with this storyline tonight on TNT's Dynamite and they did just that. With FTR, their lawyer and Arn Anderson present, there was a segment on the show where they officially signed their deals and got a few stipulations worked in.
Among them were a tag team appreciation night, tag ropes for their matches, and officials enforcing a ten-count rule. It appears AEW is going to work these new stipulations into FTR matches.
