Buddy Ebsen, is an American actor and dancer, whose career spanned seven decades. His most famous role was his role as Jed Clampett in the CBS television sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies; he later starred in the crime drama Barnaby Jones. Originally a dancer, Ebsen began his film career in 1936 Broadway Melody. He also appeared as a dancer alongside little star Shirley Temple in Captain January. Ebsen was also selected to appear in The Wizard of Oz, initially Scarecrow, and before the film started his role was changed to Tin Man, but he fell seriously ill during filming from the aluminum dust.
