A Melbourne man remains under police guard in hospital with serious injuries after the suspected murder of a woman “known” to him on Thursday.
Police rushed to a home on Grevillia Court in Hoppers Crossing at about 1.15pm after receiving reports of a “disturbance.”
Responding police located a 51-year-old Hoppers Crossing man they said had been behaving erratically, and after a further search of the property made the grim discovery of an “unresponsive” woman’s body, who died at the scene.
The woman has since been confirmed as a 40-year-old from Darley, in Bacchus Marsh, about 40km north west of Hoppers Crossing.
“A 51-year-old Hoppers Crossing man remains in hospital under police guard following the death of a 40-year-old Darley woman in Hoppers Crossing yesterday,” police said in a statement on Friday morning.
“It’s believed the pair were known to each other and police are not looking for anyone further at this time.”
“The investigation by the Homicide Squad remains ongoing.”
