Former Silverchair front man Daniel Johns pockets $12m with neighbours after apartment super sale.

FORMER Silverchair front man Daniel Johns and the other owners in his 1960s Bondi Beach apartment block have cashed in on their property investment with a whopping $12m sale.

The other owners had bounded together with Johns, who owns the top two floors, to sell the seven units at Campbell Parade as one.

And it seems their strategy worked, with the four level block selling for what The Daily Telegraph understands was $12m on Monday night.

Selling agent Seaton Jones, of Ray White Taylor Jones, remained coy on the specific sales details, but said he believed the property’s rare location helped attract big buyer interest.

“The market has been very strong, there’s a lack of supply in both house and apartments which is seeing good sales like this one,” Mr Jones said.

“It’s also very rare you see something like this come on the market in a location like Bondi.”

Mr Jones said he was not aware whether the buyer had immediate plans to develop the complex.

Johns picked up his units in 2001 for $1.6m.

He lived in the building for a short time before leasing the properties. It is understood he stands to pocket about 33 per cent of the sale proceeds.
